Since our inception, it has been our dream to work with Syrah from Bien Nacido. In our eyes it is hallowed ground where so many of our hero-wines have come from. After many long conversations about what we were hoping to achieve, our good friends at Bien Nacido bestowed upon us the opportunity to work with a small section of the outrageous Block 11b. We all felt it would be the perfect starting point to explore the deeper and darker side of Syrah. Boy was it a good fit. In the winery, we quite lovingly refer to this wine as the black hole. It seems to eat all the light around it. Once you enter it, you cannot escape. Though this is what we hoped to achieve, we had no idea it would be quite this outrageous. Most importantly, this wine represents everything we love about Syrah from Bien Nacido. It’s dark, spicy, sexy, big and complex with unparalleled natural balance.
