This is where it all started for us, with Larner Vineyard and this Syrah. It was the first wine we ever produced, the foundation upon which we built all else. This wine and the relationship between people, place and technique represents all that we hoped to achieve with terre et sang. It showcases how our boundary pushing precision farming techniques translate into a wine that not only speaks to the site it comes from, but to what is attainable in terms of texture, fruit quality and complexity when people and place are all in sync. The Patriarch is both hedonistic and ethereal, blending power with finesse and elegance through the complex marriage of firm grainy tannins, a lively backbone of acidity and long savory finish.
