Moulds

Located along an east facing hillside on the western edge of the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley lies the highly coveted Moulds Family Vineyard. For Napa, this is a cool climate site. The San Pablo Bay is within view from atop the vineyard which gives a unique maritime influence that is uncommon for much of Napa. Because of this, the vineyard goes through one of the longest growing seasons in the Valley. The vineyard boasts alluvial soils with scattered fractures of marine sedimentary rock that then transitions into a silty clay loam in the lower blocks. We are lucky enough to source from three different blocks at this exquisite site, each with its own unique combination of soil and clone giving us a complete picture of what this vineyard has to offer. The resultant wine we produce from here is intensely perfumed, dense and structured yet light on its feet, with impeccable balance and elegance. Everything we love.

Wines from Moulds

Cabernet Sauvignon
Rating 95-97+ - Erin Brooks

"Still in barrel, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon from Oak Knoll has a deep ruby-purple color and lovely aromas of cassis, blueberry jam, tar, coffee beans, friend savory herbs and aniseed with ringing tones of violet perfume. The full-bodied palate has a powdery texture and generous freshness, and it offers concentrated–yet not overripe or onerous–fruits. Its Goldilocks ripeness, harmonious structure and classy oak suggest this is going to be a stunning Cabernet from bottle!"
